CUMMINS: On Tuesday October 13, 2009 Grace Margaret Cummins (nee Church) passed away peacefully at Morley House Personal Care Home in Shoal Lake at the age of 81 years. She was born on April 4, 1928 in the R.M. of Blanchard Municipality to Fred and Mary Church. She attended school at Marney and Strathclair. Following school she worked as a telephone operator. On June 11, 1948 Grace married Graydon Cummins and they farmed in the Green Bluff Area. Grace then became a stay at home Mom. When their children were old enough Grace returned to work in the telephone office in Strathclair and Shoal Lake as a telephone operator. When dial phones were introduced Grace became a home care worker for a number of years. She then worked in the Hamiota Bakery for several years before retiring to enjoy her hobbies: Knitting, ceramics, baking, camping at Stuart Lake fishing both summer and winter. Grace lived her entire married life in the Green Bluff district until she moved to Morley House in 2006. Left to cherish her memory her husband Graydon, daughters Diane Robertson, Theresa (Dennis) Wareham and son Randy Cummins. Her cherished grandchildren Onalea (Rob) Holden, Amberley (Kurt) Baldwin, Kelly (Stephanie) Robertson, Ashley (Cory) Cummins. Her dear great grandchildren Cory Holden, Colin Holden, Keith Baldwin, Trace Baldwin, one sister Phyllis Hayhurst, three brothers Clarence (Jean) Church, Donald (Joyce) Church, Gerald (Donna) Church and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Grace was predeceased by her parents, Graydons parents, son-in-law Ronald Robertson, sister Ilene Patterson, brothers Gordon, Stanley and Milton, one brother-in-law Henry Hayhurst and sister-in-law Muriel Church, as well as several nieces and nephews. Funeral service was held at the Strathclair United Church on Friday, October 16, 2009. Rev. Tim Crouch officiating. Interment was at the Strathclair Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Alzheimers Society of Manitoba. Morley House Personal Care Home at Shoal Lake or to the Strathclair United Church Memorial Fund. All those in attendance were considered honorary pallbearers. Raes Funeral Service were in care of arrangements.
