TYREMAN: Hazel Margaret Tyreman, January 17, 1916 October 10, 2009. On the morning of Saturday, October 10th at Fairview Home in Brandon, Hazel Margaret Tyreman, 93, passed peacefully from this world. Hazel's life began on a farm near Goodlands, Manitoba, the second child of Charles and Agnes Morrison. In 1936, she married Clarence Sheppard who joined the Army and was eventually posted overseas. When they later separated, Hazel overcame numerous adversities raising three young children on her own while working full time. The result was a hardworking and tireless woman who was hard to keep up to. In 1964, Hazel married Lorne Tyreman, and they shared more than 30 happy years together. When he passed away in 1996, Hazel's family and friends became a constant source of support for her, seeing her through numerous difficult transitions from leaving her home and moving to Hobbs Manor and to her final home at Fairview. It was while at Hobbs Manor that Hazel met Ray Coxe whose enduring friendship and support never failed and made her years at Hobbs Manor an enjoyable chapter in her life. In addition to her beloved husband Lorne, Hazel was predeceased by her sister Kathleen Morrison, twin brother Jack Morrison, sister Pearl Thomas, sister-in-law Geraldine Morrison, son Ronnie Sheppard, granddaughter Rhonda Lowdon, and son- in-law Garry Lowry. Left to embrace the memories of Hazel's life are her younger sister Betty and husband Les Lowdon of Deloraine, eldest daughter Jean and husband Ed Lowdon of Virden, daughter Gloria Sheppard of Port Coquitlam, B.C., and Hazel's special friend Ray Coxe. She also leaves loving memories with her six grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Hazel expressed her love with her hands, making wonderful meals and turning her years of experience as a cook into delightful dinner celebrations at her home for family and friends. Never one to remain still, her hands were forever busy crafting the many quilts, blankets and knitted items she made for her loved ones and for various charities. She loved nothing better than a good laugh, enjoyed socializing and meeting new people. She had been an active bowler, was an avid curling fan and a formidable "nasty Canasta" card player through the years. Hazel also enjoyed her travels to England and Hawaii and cherished her visits to Ireland as she had a special affinity for her mother's birthplace. Her irrepressible wit was apparent even as her health failed in later years, and despite her arthritis and other health problems, nothing could prevent "Gram" from getting down on the floor and playing with her great grandchildren. A funeral service took place at the Brockie Donovan Chapel in Brandon on Thursday, October 15th with Rev. Laird Russell-Yearwood of Central United Church officiating. Grandson Keith Lowdon gave a loving eulogy of this spirited, determined woman and shared examples of the many laughs we all enjoyed with Gram through the years. A video memorial further celebrating Hazel's life was prepared by Brockie Donovan with music and photos selected by granddaughter Tammy Lowdon Hersack. The video can be viewed by logging on to Brockie Donovan's website at www.brockiedonovan.com. Reid Lowdon and Matthew Hersack helped carry their Great Grandma to her final resting place along with three of Hazel's beloved nephews, Bernard Kasprick, Brian Lowdon and John Morrison. Kathleen Stowe, a family friend who became like a granddaughter to Hazel, was also a pallbearer. Lunch followed with family and friends at the United Church following a private interment. In lieu of flowers, donations to your local Humane Society in memory of Hazel and her love of animals, especially her dogs, would be appreciated." Till we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of his hand."Your loving family
