WALLACE: Mr. Kenneth Mervyn Wallace of Brandon, beloved husband of Donna, passed away at the Brandon Regional Health Centre on October 13, 2009 at the age of 63 years. Ken was born on March 6, 1946 in Brandon. He attended Alexander Elementary, Earl Oxford Junior High and Vincent Massey High School, where he was involved in many sports, mainly soccer. While enjoying the family cabin at Grey Owl, Ken worked for George Nealy at the Clear Lake Esso for many summers. Ken worked at Safeway for 29 years, retiring only due to poor health. Family and friends were very important to Ken. Spare time was spent at the soccer fields coaching, refereeing and watching all of his children and his grandchildren. He also enjoyed watching all nieces and nephews in the many sports played over the years. Ken served on the BYSA Board for many years and helped to get the Optimist Soccer Park up and running. He was an avid hockey fan, holding season tickets to Wheat Kings games. He was also a member of the UCT #448. Ken is survived by his wife of 38 years, Donna, daughter Deann Heide (fiancé Scott), son Cory, daughter Jodie (Rhys) Bolton, grandchildren Samantha and Tyrran Heide, Austin and Lexa Goodon, sister Carol Willms, brother Jack Wallace, brother-in-law Ed Willms, sister-in-law Judy (George) Mackay and many nieces and nephews. Ken was predeceased by his parents, Clifford and Dorothy Wallace, father and mother-in-law Jim and Shirley McMurrich and sister Marg Willms. A private graveside burial took place on Friday, October 16, 2009 at the Brandon Cemetery followed by a service at the Brockie Donovan Chapel with Rev. John Dolloff of St. Mary’s Anglican Church officiating. Urn bearers were granddaughters Samantha Heide and Lexa Goodon.
