GLOOR: Jessie Victoria. Jessie slipped quietly away in the early morning Friday, October 23, 2009 at The Willowview Personal Care Home in Reston, Manitoba. She was in her 96th year. Jessie was born July 31, 1914 to James and Stella Dodds on their homestead in the Belses district just south of Pipestone, Manitoba. She resided in Pipestone all her life with the exception of a short time in Ontario, and the last few months of her life at Willowview. She attended Belses and Pipestone schools. Mom met our Dad, Jim Gloor when he came from Ontario during the 30’s to do farm work. They married October 23, 1935 in the United Church Manse in Pipestone. Mom was predeceased by her husband Jim, son Ronald, parents, James and Stella Dodds, sister, Flora Belle and brothers Russell, Clifford and Thomas, brother-in-law Ernest Scott, sons-in-law John Lennon and Verne Kachkowski and daughter-in-law Yvonne Gloor. Mom was also predeceased by Dad’s family in Ontario. Those remaining with many fond memories are her children Jim Jr. (Joannie), Courtney, British Columbia, Norma Lennon and Elaine (Dave Bennett) and daughter-in-law Joan Gloor all of Brandon. She is also remembered by grandchildren and great grandchildren. Nick (Kimberly) and Sylvie Gloor, Lee Ann Gloor, Lynnea and Tasha Ritchie. Bart (Sandra) Melainie and Kelsey Gloor, Crystal (Mike) Hollis. Ward Lennon, Nola Lennon, Troy (Jill) Paige and Scarlett Lennon. Shawn (Sylvia) Anthony and Alex Bennett, Jason (Keri) Ethan and Owen Bennett, Laura Bennett and Brayden Hopkins-Bennett. Remaining also are sisters-in-law Mabel Dodds and Donna Dodds. Mom was a very hard worker and helped to supplement the family income many ways. She was the custodian of the Pipestone School for 25 years during which time she made lifelong friendships with students and teachers. She was the Pipestone news correspondent for the Reston Recorder for 33 years, enabling people near and far to have contact with home. She was always doing something or lending a helping hand. Mom was a lifetime member of the Pipestone Ladies Auxiliary being one of the original members. She was also a member of the U.C.W. Pipestone Church. Mom belonged to the quilters in Pipestone. All her family have Grandma Quilts. I believe the last count was about 100 quilts. They are very special memories now. I am sure our parents had a wonderful reunion as the day would have been their 74th Wedding Anniversary. The celebration for Jessie’s life will be held Wednesday, October 28, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at the Pipestone Hall with Rev. D. Rutherford officiating. Interment Pipestone Cemetery. In lieu of floral tributes, donations to Pipestone United Church or Pipestone Cemetery Fund would be appreciated.
