SHELLBORN: Glen Norman Shellborn. It is with deep sadness, the family announces the sudden passing of a dear husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, on October 24, 2009. Born to Roy Olav Magnus Shellborn and Martha Antonsen on Aug. 05, 1924 at NE 15-17-18 W1 in the RM of Clanwilliam. Glen was the third oldest in the family of 9 children. Glen attended school at Hilltop, Westmount, Erickson High School and Minnedosa. At the age of 17 Glen was Baptized and Confirmed at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church. In August 1943, Glen enlisted into the Royal Canadian Navy. He served his country aboard the HMCS Chippawa, HMCS Naden, HMCS Stradcoma and his last two years of service in the North Atlantic on the HMCS Humberstone. In November 1945, he received his discharge for the Canadian Forces. On January 06, 1946 his career began with the Erickson Co-op. On November 09 1947, he married Ada Delia Nystrom in the Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Left to mourn his passing: Ada, his wife and partner of 63 years, Their three children: Larrance (friend Joanne); Lana (Victor); Lance (Islay); Daughter-in-law Valerie. Grandchildren: Angela (Darren); Scot; Tyler (Tracy); Myranda (Ryan). Great- Grandchildren; David, Carter, Avery, Liberty, Brayden, and step granddaughter Zoee. Siblings: Olav (Lula); Raymond; Emil; Robert (Jean); Doris; and Viola. Sister-in-law Letty (Henry).He was predeceased by: Sister Mae; Brother Floyd; Brother-in-laws Stanley Nystrom; Dorland Burkett; Nephews: Allan; Calvin; Niece Debra; Sister-in-law Elvera. A service celebrating the life of Glen Norman Shellborn, will take place at the Erickson Lutheran Church on Thursday, October 29 at 2:00 p.m. As per the family wishes, cremation has taken place. Lunch and fellowship will follow the service in the Erickson Legion Hall. Friends that so desire, memoriams may be made to; Erickson Palliative Care or the Heart and Stroke Fund.
