COLLINSON: Allan Chester Collinson (March 01, 1937 to November 2, 2009). It is with sadness we announce the passing of Al Collinson of Souris, Manitoba at age 72 of complications related to bone cancer. Al is survived by his wife Gale of Souris. He also leaves to mourn his passing his children: Robert (Violet) Collinson; and Beth Collinson of Yellowknife; and Kelly (Terry) Webster of Hay River as well as his grandchildren: Graeme and Taylor Reid; Alexander and Adam Collins; Danna and Abby Webster; and Cassidy Collinson. He is also survived by Mabel, of Yellowknife, the mother of his children and his sisters: Barbara Janz of Souris, Manitoba, and Maddie Fulford of Vancouver, B.C. and numerous nieces and nephews. Also mourning Grandpa Al is Gales children: Greg (Sherrie) Wiebe; Debbie Wiebe (Richard Kelly); and April Wiebe (Brian Chaboyer) and grandchildren: Kayla and Leigh Wiebe; Charis (Emmet Schaen), Avis, Brenna, Holly and Sage Kelly; Brianna and Austin Chaboyer; and great granddaughter: Olivea Schaen. Al was predeceased by his parents Robert and Vera, his brothers Glen, Robert and Jack and his sister Buddy. Al spent the majority of his life between Souris, Nipawin, SK and Yellowknife, NT with a few stops in between. He worked in printing and newspapers before coming north in 1968 and enjoying 20 plus years working for the GNWT. After retirement, he lived in Osoyoos BC shortly and then returned to his home town of Souris. He was an avid golfer and curler. He was also deeply involved in the communities with the Elks and Legion as well as coaching minor sports in his younger years. The Family would like to thank Dr. Cram and recognize the awesome care provided by the nurses at the Souris Glenwood Regional Hospital since Al was diagnosed with Cancer. At Als request there will be no funeral or memorial services. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to a charity of your choice. Kowalchuks Funeral Home Souris, Manitoba in care of arrangements.
