GARTSHORE:John Douglas, April 28, 1932 – Nov. 21, 2009. Jack grew up in Toronto and proved himself both creative and intelligent, with a love for people, animals, and funny puns. He also learned to love the Creator, Jehovah and wanted to help others to do the same, so he dedicated his life to him in 1954. He worked various jobs after graduation from an industrial course in chemistry in 1952, but he especially enjoyed reaching out to people to teach them the wonderful things he had learned in the Bible. He met his wife Bernice in Ottawa in 1957 and they married June 28, 1958. Their sons, Stephen and James, were born in Toronto. In 1968 they moved to Smithers, B.C. and in 1973 they relocated to Souris. They moved to Brandon, Saskatoon, Creston, and then returned to Brandon in 1989. Jack was predeceased by his son Jim and his parents, Curtis and Evelyn Gartshore. He leaves his dear wife Bernice, his son Stephen (Karlene) Gartshore, his daughter-in-law Donna Gartshore of Regina, two granddaughters, Kristina (Tim) Moseley of Midwest City, OK and Sara Gartshore of Regina, and one great-grandson, Brenden Moseley; his brother, Jim (Joyce) Gartshore of Trenton, Ontario, his brother- and sister-in-law, Marcel and Vera Ramseyer and many nieces, nephews and friends. A Memorial service will be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 3434 Park Avenue at two o’clock Saturday November 28, 2009. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Brandon Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses or the Humane Society.
