SEITZ: Monica Seitz (née Zimmerman) passed away at the Brandon Regional Health Centre on December 8, 2009 at the age of 96 years. Born April 13, 1913 in Odessa, Saskatchewan. She married George Seitz and moved with her young family to Brandon, Manitoba in 1942. She was a devoted member of St. Augustine's Parish and for the past seven years, has continued to participate in the weekly Mass at her residence at Fairview Home. She was a 60 year member of the Catholic Women's League. Her deep faith sustained her through the loss of her three young sons Gerald (1953), Donald (1959) and Robert (1963); husband George (1998) and by her nine siblings that she adored. She was precise and meticulous in her work and in her appearance. She did not like her hands to be idle and was known for her sewing (Barbie clothes to wedding gown), knitting, crocheting, petit point and over 40 hand stitched quilts that she lovingly gave to family and friends. Survived by son Frank (Linda) and daughter Sherry (Mike) Hayward. Grandchildren: Sandi Thibault, Robert (Christine), Rhonda (Bryan), Ryan (Amber), Lana (Gerald) and Maegan; nine great grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and their families and by the Bernadette Ferguson family who always held a special place in her heart. Prayers will be held at the Brockie Donovan Chapel, 332-8th Street, on Sunday, December 13, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. Mr. Deacon John MacKenzie officiating. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Augustine’s Roman Catholic Church, 327-4th Street, on Monday, December 14, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. Dominic Yuen as Celebrant. Interment will follow at the Brandon Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Monica may be made to the Kidney Foundation of Canada, Westman Office, 42 McTavish Avenue East, Brandon, Manitoba, R7A 2B2.
