ASSELSTINE: It is with deep sadness that the family announces the passing of Beryl Asselstine on December 31st, 2009 at the Hamiota District Health Centre. Beryl slipped away peacefully at night with family by her side. Beryl was born at the Hamiota Hospital on October 29, 1931. On October 14th, 1950 she married the love of her life Allan Asselstine. Together they lived on the farm at McConnell until 1953 when they moved to Beulah to farm. In 1959, they moved to the farm in Hamiota where they farmed until 1986 when they moved into the Town of Hamiota. Beryl worked at the golf course from 1982 to 1984 and then in the Hamiota Hospital kitchen from 1984 until 1995. To her children Doug (Kim) Asselstine and Kerry (Darrell) Kowalyk she was the best mother anyone could ask for. To her grandchildren Candace (Brian) Ford, Gerry Asselstine, and Melyssa and Chantal Kowalyk, she was amazing and her cookies and hugs will never be forgotten. She leaves behind to mourn her loss her devoted husband Allan, her children, her grandchildren, as well as numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceases by her sister Joyce (Chandler). Beryl will be lovingly remembered by all that knew her. She was a constant source of love. A family graveside service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Beryls memory to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, 1-613 10th Street, Brandon, MB, R7A 4G6. Campbell Funeral Home, Hamiota in care arrangements.
