POLLON: Peacefully at the Minnedosa District Hospital on December 10 2009, Gordon Gene Pollon passed away with family at his side. Born on the family farm a mile south of Clanwilliam on May 10 1930, Gordon was the youngest son of Andrew and Lillian Pollon. He married Katherine McPherson in September 1955. As a young adult he worked in the trucking industry in Clanwilliam, Stonewall, Thompson and Saskatchewan until hiring on the CPR at Minnedosa in 1965. He worked his father-inlaw Hugh McPherson's farm at Clanwilliam throughout the 60's and 70's. Gordon was active on community boards and enjoyed curling and baseball in his younger years. Gordon and Katherine lived in Clanwilliam until 1989 when they moved to Brandon. They lived in Brandon for a few years until moving to their retirement home at Ditch Lake shortly before Gordon retired as a conductor in January 1995. Travelling to Arizona and Osoyoos, their winter holidays brought them many new friends to share stories and good times with. Gordon is survived by his wife Katherine, sons Brion (Sherrilu), David (Tanny), daughter Sandra (Keith), grandchildren Jami, Brandi and Cody, as well as step grandchildren Tim, Tommy, Pam, Robert and Lyle. He was predeceased by his son Gary (1974), brothers Clarence (1984), Raymond (RCAF/1944), as well as his parents Andrew (1981) and Lillian (1990). He will be fondly remembered as a person who was extremely resourceful and independent. Always ready to help others when there was a need and expecting nothing in return was the way he lived his life. Services were conducted at Erickson Legion Hall on the afternoon of December 16 2009 by Rev. Elgin Hall. David Pollon gave his fathers eulogy and Calvin Cooke acted as the urnbearer. Interment followed at Clanwilliam Cemetery and the family requests that any memorial donations be made to the Palliative Care Ward at Minnedosa District Hospital, Minnedosa, Manitoba. Minnedosa Funeral Services were in charge of arrangements.
