MacDONALD:Edna Doreen MacDonald (nee Thompson) passed away peacefully on January 15, 2010, at Minnedosa and District Hospital, surrounded by loving family. Edna was born August 18, 1924, the eldest of five children born to Malcolm and Ora (Duncan) Thompson. She attended Grades I - XI at Basswood, and Grade XII at Minnedosa. She took her Normal School training in Winnipeg and taught for four years. Edna married Robert MacDonald in 1948. They built a new house on NE 26-14-20, where they lived all their married life, raising their four children - Loreen, Anne, Joan, and Rob. They enjoyed family life, curling, and the many, many visits from family and friends. Edna always took an active interest in her grandchildren and all the extended family- nieces, nephews, and cousins - as well as Cadurcis Church, the Cadurcis Community Club, the Rapid City Library, and the Minnedosa Horticultural Society. She was predeceased by her husband Bob, in 1995, and also by her parents, three brothers (Donald, Robert, and Duncan) and two nieces Lois (Fedak) and Dawn (Thompson). She will be greatly missed by her sister Marion and brother-in-law Orest Fedak; sisters-in-law Pearl Thompson, Dorothy Thompson, Jackie Fehrenbach and Donna MacDonald; children Loreen and Glen Jackson, Anne and Gene Finlay, Joan and Rob Trott, and Rob and Kristine MacDonald; and grandchildren Dennis Jackson, Susan Jackson and her husband Dennis Dueck, Patricia Jackson and her fiancé Curtis Fehr, Ian Finlay, Gordon Finlay, Amber and Devin English, McLean Trott, Graham Trott, Garrett MacDonald, and Eric MacDonald, as well as a host of well-loved nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends. Funeral Service was held on Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at the Cadurcis United Church with Elgin Hall officiating. Interment was in the Basswood Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Cadurcis United Church, PO Box 1838 Minnedosa, Manitoba, R0J 1E0. Minnedosa Funeral Service was in care of arrangements.
