Miss me, but let me go.McGILL: Betty Faye nee McCutchin of Belmont Peacefully, on January 7, 2010, Faye passed away at the Glenboro Hospital at the age of 64 years. She leaves to mourn her passing, husband Donald McGill of Belmont, daughter Cheryl Battersby and husband Brent and grandchildren Brynne and Mitchell of Brandon, son Kerry McGill of Edmonton, mother Darlene McCutchin of Belmont, brother Dennis McCutchin and wife Marie of Brandon, sister Barbara Raison of Winnipeg, sister-in-law Helen Heaman and husband Keith of Carman, brother-in-law Keith McGill and wife Carol of Killarney. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, aunts, an uncle, cousins and friendsespecially Donna Myers of Belmont and Hilary Bell of Ladysmith, B.C. Faye was predeceased by her father, Earl, in 1995, her brother, Marvin, in 2009, and by her parents-in-law, Herb McGill in 1989 and Florence McGill in 1997. Faye was born May 4, 1945 at Blaines Nursing Home in Glenboro in the middle of a snowstorm. She was the eldest of four children born toEarl and Darlene (Vrooman) McCutchin. She and her mother had to spend fourteen days in the nursing home as the roads to Belmont were impassable. At the age of 7, Faye contracted polio and was sent to the Shriners Hospital in Winnipeg. She was joined by her brother Dennis and they spent many months together recuperating. She and Dennis sharedmany memories of that time together. Faye returned to the Shriners Hospital over the course of many years to undergo furthertreatments and procedures. She made many friends during her stays there. Faye attended school in Belmont. In 1965, she moved to Winnipeg where she worked at McLeods Warehouse Office for four years. On July 26, 1969 she married Donald McGill, and returned home to Belmont. They began married life on the Elmer McGill farm. Their daughter Cheryl Lynne was born on July 7, 1970 and son Kerry Dale followed on September 8, 1972. In 1975, the family moved to the former Morris Durham farm. During those years, Faye and Donald enjoyed attending many dances, ball games and bonspiels. Many good times were had with friends and neighbours. In 1990, Faye and Donald moved to the McGill home farm and then to Belcrest Manor in 1999. In her younger years Faye was active in the Neelin UCW, the Belmont Figure Skating Club, and Belmont United Church, where she taught Sunday School and servedas Sunday School Superintendent. In her later years, Faye cherished spending time with her grandchildren, visiting and playing cards with friends, and participating in the social activities of the Adult Day Program. She enjoyed visits with her sister, Barbara, and going for long drives in the country. Faye faced many health struggles throughout her life and braved each one with courage and strength. She can now rest in peace. Funeral services were held on Tuesday January 12, 2010 at 2:00 pm in the Knox United Church, Belmont with Elizabeth Goodson officiating. Interment followed in the Hillside Cemetery, Belmont.
