SUNAERT: Kenneth G. It is with great sorrow we announce the sudden passing of our beloved husband, dad and grandpa on December 4, 2009 at the age of 59. Ken was born October 26, 1950 in Deloraine, Manitoba to parents; Roger and Aileen (Schoonbaert) Sunaert. He attended Bidford school grades 1 – 8 and finished his schooling in Deloraine. Ken married Darlene Teetaert October 22, 1969. We celebrated our 40th wedding anniversary in Brandon the weekend of November 7, 2009 with our children and grandchildren. Family photos and swimming being the main highlights of our weekend. Ken and Darlene farmed with Ken’s dad, Roger, later with brother, Barry and his son, Wes. In 2001 we moved to Deloraine but continued farming until 2007 when we completely retired. After a few months of gardening and lawn mowing, Ken decided to take on a new challenge; driving a semi for Vandaele Logistics of Medora. We saw a lot of beautiful country-side, which we enjoyed very much. Ken made a lot of good friends while working at Vandaele’s. Ken had many hobbies; as a young teen he and his sister Judy raced snowmobiles. While attending Bidford school, Ken and a long time school friend; Greg Maynard began their curling career in Hathaway (1 sheet) curling rink. Ken loved competitive curling; throughout the years he and his team mates had much success and a lot of fun. Another keen interest was hunting; deer, elk and moose where many stories were told after these trips. Ken enjoyed golfing with his son Wes; spending many hours at the Deloraine Golf Course, teaching each other this frustrating sport. He thoroughly enjoyed golfing in the Big Rock Classic, every July for the past 21 years and nervously watching Wes win the horse race of which he was very proud. Ken took a special interest in watching Dahna and Vanessa compete in Horse Club, Curling and Ringette. He took pleasure in watching Hayden play hockey, golfing with Wyatt and trying to teach the two boys and Dustin to play pool. The last nine winters; golfing was enjoyed with friends in a warm climate. He was enormously looking forward to leaving January 4th for our winter home in Magic Valley, Weslaco, Texas. Ken was very involved as a Co-op board member; this being his 32nd year. He was also president of the Deloraine Curling Club and an avid Legion member enjoying a Canadian with friends. Ken was predeceased by his father; Roger and father-in-law; Cesar Teetaert. Left to cherish his memory; his loving wife Darlene, two daughters; Dahna (Craig Crofton), Vanessa (Kelly Vandoorne) and son Wes. Grandsons; Hayden and Dustin Vandoorne, Wyatt Sunaert and Nikolaus Crofton. Mother; Aileen Sunaert, siblings; Judy (Ed Missinne), Linda (Wayne Jones), Barry (Kim) and Karen. Mother- in-law; Nora Teetaert, Garrie, (Jackie), Donnie, (Myrna), Donna, (Wayne Gilson) and many nephews and nieces. Funeral service was held December 8th at St. Antoninus Catholic Church with Father Nowosu officiating. The Eulogy was given by Lorne Sambrook. Pallbearers: Tylor and Kelsey Sunaert, Brad Minssinne, Dale Goethals, John Park, Lorne Percival. Interment in Del-Win Cemetery. Smith Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. We would like to thank everyone for phone calls, cards, visits, food and flowers sent to us during this difficult time. Darlene and Family.
