RUBENIUK: The death of James Bert Jim Rubeniuk occurred at the Brandon Regional Health Centre, Assiniboine Centre on January 25, 2010 at the age of 79 years. Jim was born on December 4, 1930 to Max and Mary Hrubeniuk from the Lakedale area north of Angusville. There, he attended school and helped out on the family farm. For a couple winters, he went to B.C. to work in a lumber mill but it came time to settle down, so he came back to Manitoba to farm full time. Jim married Sonya Fiel on June 12, 1956 and moved to a farm north of Rossburn. There they raised four children: Valerie, Kathy, Robert and Kevin. Times were tough in those days, so Jim and Sonya decided to sell the farm and move to Winnipeg in 1971. After a few years, they moved to Brandon and there they retired. Jims favorite pastimes were hunting and fishing and many trips to the States and out west with his family. He enjoyed ski-dooing and the occasional ride on the quad. Jim loved to spend time with his children and grandchildren especially at their cabins at the lake. He was predeceased by his parents Max and Mary, brothers: Stanley, Adolf, Joe; sisters: Annie and Margaret. Jim will be sadly missed by his wife Sonya, daughter Valerie, her children Brent (April), Ashley (fiancé Ryan) and Danny; daughter Kathy (Dennis) and their children, Terence (Amanda), Michelle (fiancé Trevor); son Robert (Roni) and their children, Mitch, Courtney and Larrisa; son Kevin (Karlyn) and their son Kyler.
