SCHWALM: Orval Mryle Ellsworth Schwalm, March 18, 1915 Feb. 9, 2010. Orval passed away peacefully in his sleep after a brief battle with lung disease. He was predeceased by his parents; wife Rena in 2007; sons, Charles in 1943 and Allan in 1998; his brother Addy and sister-in-law Gertie. He is survived by son Bill of Calgary; daughter Linda (Jack Collins); and grandsons, Thomas and Sean all of Thunder Bay, Ontario. He was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba and grew up in Humboldt, Saskatchewan where he met Rena, whom he married February 16, 1942. He was a member of the RCAF from 1942 - 1965. He served at various air bases in Western Canada. Orval and Rena settled in Rivers in 1965, where he was manager of the Credit Union until his retirement. Orval was a life-time member of the Royal Canadian Legion. He had a great interest in railroading, gardening and cribbage. Orval will be sorely missed by many relatives and friends. A memorial service will be held on Monday, February 15, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. in the Royal Canadian Legion, 633 2nd Avenue, Rivers, Manitoba.
