WOOD: Jim (James) Wood, born June 24, 1909, passed away at the BrandonRegional Health Centre on February16, 2010. Jim leaves to mourn daughters Marion George of Brandon, Sharon Wood of Regina, son Ken and Linda Wood of Sioux Narrows, sister Mae Haglund of Winnipeg, brother Harry Wood of Morden, four grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Mary, sister Lorna Bray, son-in-law Jack George. Jim lived in the Darlingford area from 1909 to 1976 where he farmed for 50 years. He retired to Morden in 1976 where he lived until late 2009 when he became a resident of Third Crossing Manor in Gladstone. Jim was active in farm organizations - being a director and delegate for the local Pool Elevator, a member of the Farmers Union and Soil Conservation Club. He was active in the United Church being a treasurer, elder and worker. He was the secretary treasurer of Calf Mountain School from 1951 to 1964. After moving to Morden, Jim became a member of the Manitoba Society of Seniors, an active member of the Seniors Center and a board member for the Morden Handivan. He was an avid reader and curler. A celebration of his life will be held at St. Paul's United Church in Morden Manitoba at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday April 17, 2010.
