FRANKLIN: Claudia Mae Elizabeth Franklin (nee Bell). June 1 1946 - January 30, 2010. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Claudia Franklin at the age of 63 on Saturday, January 30, 2010 at the Assiniboine Centre in Brandon. Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 43 years Brian, son Tony, daughter-in-law Val, and grandchildren Abbey, Grady, Hallie, daughter Carrie, son-in-law Rod, and grandchildren Dylan and Bauer Jardine. Claudia is also survived by her parents Clint and Ruth Bell, brothers Harland, Calvin and families, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Claudia was born in Deloraine and completed all but her grade 12 in Goodlands and Waskada. The Bell family moved to Deloraine at the beginning of Claudias Grade 12 year. Upon graduation from Deloraine Collegiate Claudia took her Lab and X-ray training in Winnipeg and Brandon. After graduation she worked in various Hospital Labs throughout Manitoba, and finished her career at the Deloraine Hospital. Claudia married Brian on August 19 1967. Following a year in Virden they moved to Deloraine where they resided until Claudias untimely passing. Claudia had a professional career of commitment, service, and respect. Claudia retired in 2001, spending the following nine years care giving, volunteering in the community, and being with her beloved children and grandchildren as much as possible. Claudia was full of integrity, confident, and carried the utmost love for her family. She was an idealist, a person of principle with a strong opinion. Throughout her retirement years Claudia enjoyed traveling with Brian on numerous hockey trips along with half a dozen excursions to winter getaways. However her most precious moments were spent with her grandchildren, Tony, Val, Carrie, and Rod. She truly cherished family time. Claudias grandchildren filled her heart. She just couldnt get enough of them. A good book and crosswords were her personal time but she also enjoyed a good political discussion along with a glass of fine red wine or a well shaken martini. The family would like to thank the Deloraine Ambulance staff for their quick professional response. We would also like to thank the Drs and nurses of the Boissevain Health Centre. Thank you to the very caring, professional staff at the Brandon General Hospital ICU and Assiniboine Centre. Thank you also to Paul Smith of the Deloraine Funeral Home for your caring, professional guidance. In keeping with Claudias wishes cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life took place on Tuesday, February 2, in Deloraine. If friends so desire, donations can be made in Claudias name to the Southwest Manitoba Regional Foundation - Deloraine / Winchester Fund, Box 338 Deloraine, Manitoba, R0M 0M0.
