SHERRED: Lillian Sarah, 1912-2010. It is with great sadness that the family announces the death of Lillian Sherred at Fairview Home on February 22, 2010 at the age of 97. Lillian is survived by her daughter Gayle of Brandon, Manitoba, her granddaughter Jeannie (Terry) Robertson, great-granddaughters Bre-Ann, Brittney and Brooke Robertson, all of Brandon; sisters Evelyn Rourke, Florence Perks of Brandon, and Freda Kram of Wawanesa, Manitoba; brothers, Fraser Nicholls, Edward (Marion) Nicholls of Brandon, and numerous nieces and nephews. Lillian was born March 11, 1912 in Wawanesa, Manitoba to Edward William and Florence Mary Nicholls. She was the first of 11 children. In 1938 Lillian married Douglas Wilfred Sherred and they farmed in nearby areas for a time, finally settling in Wawanesa in 1955. They had one daughter, Gayle. After Doug passing in 1985, Lillian moved to Brandon in 1986 where she resided at Winnipeg House until 2006. She then moved to Fairview Home until her passing. Lillian was a member of the Legion Ladies Auxiliary of Wawanesa before transferring when she moved to the Brandon branch. She loved cooking, and it didnt matter for how many people, there was always lots of yummy stuff for everyone. She loved sewing and knitting, especially dishcloths, we were never short of them. Bingo was another pastime, where she usually would just donate as she would say. Her years in Fairview were spent looking out for the needs of others, even though she was the elder. She really looked forward to her job folding the facecloths. The family wishes to thank the nursing staff of Fairview Home for their compassionate and dignified care, and to Memories Chapel for their services. There will be no funeral service at this time. The family will have a private graveside service at a later date. To Those I Love and Those Who Loved MeWhen I am gone release me, let me go...I have so many things to see and do,You musnt tie yourself to me with tears;Be happy that we had so many years.I gave to you my love, you can only guess,How much you gave to me in happiness. I thank you for the love you each have shown, But now it is time I traveled on alone. So grieve a while for me if you must; Then let your grief be comforted by your trust. Its only for a while that we must part,To bless memories within your heart.I wont be far away, for life goes on; So if you need me, call and I will come,Though you cant see me or touch me Ill be near. And if you listen with your heart, youll hear,All of my love around you soft and clear. And then when you must come this way alone,Ill greet you with a smile and say, Welcome home.
