LITTLE: Jessie "Jaye" Margaret Campbell Little (Nee Murison) passed away at Dinsdale Personal Care Home on Wednesday, February 24, 2010. Jaye was born July 29, 1923 in Toronto, ON. She received her education in Brandon atMcLaren, Fleming, Earl Oxford and Brandon Collegiate Institute. Jaye received a diploma in Psychiatric Nursing from Brandon Mental Hospital and a diploma in General Nursing from Winnipeg General Hospital (now Health Sciences Centre). As part of her continuing education, Jaye completed a course in Adult Education at Assiniboine Community College. She was employed as a nurse at Brandon Mental Health Centre (BMHC) for 38 years. In addition, she spent time nursing at the Brandon Sanatorium and also in Windsor, Ontario. Jaye was a past Education Director for the Registered Psychiatric Nurses Association of Manitoba as well as Secretary/Treasurer for the local Registered Psychiatric Nurses Brandon Branch. As a cancer survivor, Jaye was a volunteer for the "Reach to Recovery for Cancer Victims" program. She was heavily involved in a variety of efforts for the BMHC while it was still in operation and in an alumni position after its closing. Jaye was a member of the following: Advisory Board for Community Welcome, Dinsdale Personal Care Home, Salvation Army Advisory Board, Southminister Presbyterian Church, Princess Park Tenants Social Club, United Commercial Travellers. Jaye volunteered for several health-related organizations such as the Heart and Stroke Foundation, the Canadian Cancer Society, the Kidney Foundation, the Salvation Army and the Alzheimer Society. While her children were growing up, she was actively involved in Sea Cadets, Baseball, Boy Scouts, Brownies and Girl Guides. Jaye volunteered at many major sporting events in the city over the years. Her hard work and dedication have been recognized through the following awards: Canada Day Award for work with BMHC Museum and Archives, Certificate of Appreciation for Years of Service to UCT of AmericaAuxiliary, Award of Merit for outstanding service and dedication in the field of Mental Health, the Judge J.E. George Memorial Award and the Manitoba Council on Aging Recognition Award. In her spare time, Jaye enjoyed bowling and knitting. Jaye is survived by her three sons: Ron (Betty), Rob (Shelley), Don (Jean); daughter Heather (Ray); fourteen grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Jaye is also survived by a brother, Tom Murison as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son Norm, a brother Jim and two sisters-in-law, Shirley and Helen. The Funeral Ceremony will be held on Tuesday, March 2, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Memories Chapel, 330 - 18th Street N. Major Velma Preston will officiate. Interment will be in the Brandon Cemetery.
