HEASMAN: Jack McKenzie Heasman of Killarney, Manitoba ,passed away peacefully on February 25, 2010. Jack was born in Brandon, December 3 1918. He attended school in Birds Hill, ManitobaB and Wawota, Saskatchewan. He married Eileen Dingle on June 16,1940. During WWII, he was in the Army Reserve teaching gunnery. He farmed in Saskatchewan then moved to Killarney, in 1947. He cleared the land and farmed the north shore up past the railway and where Kerry Park is now. In the late 1950s he created Oakpoint Park where he and Eileen had a campground, cabins and rental boats. They also ran a convenience store from the stone house. He retired in the 70s to travel and enjoy life. He and Eileen spent 30 winters travelling to San Diego. Jack was involved in many facets of life in Killarney. He drove a cat and managed explosives for Irvin Clark. He drove the hearse for Henry Morrison. He was an ambulance attendent and a long time school bus driver. He belonged to the Elks and played baritone horn in the Killarney band. He repaired guns and built stocks which he checkered. He worked for John Edwards taking wedding pictures. He enjoyed many years hunting and fishing with his friends. He really was a Jack-of-all-trades. Jack is survived by his wife Eileen, 4 children - Judy (Landon Booker), Pat (Clyde Nickerson), Wendy ( Harold (Sam) Medd), David - plus 12 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and 1 great, great granddaughter. He is predeceased by one grandchild, Zoe. We wish to thank all the nurses at Killarney Homecare and the Hospital for the care and concern they showed for Jack. A memorial will be held at gravesite at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Cancer Society or the Killarney Foundation. Killarney Funeral Home.
