MALMSTROM: Marilyn Ruth Malmstrom of Brandon, Manitoba was called home to her Lord, passing away unexpectedly at the Brandon Regional Health Centre on Friday, February 26th, 2010. Marilyn was born on January 20th, 1951 in Fort Frances, Ontario where she spent her early years. She also grew up in Saskatoon and Winnipeg, graduating from River East Collegiate, and later studying Home Economics at the University of Manitoba. In 1971, she married and started her family with the love of her life George. She was a beautiful homemaker but also worked outside the home. Through the years she worked at banks in Edmonton and Red Deer, as a business partner and assistant to George in the family music store in Winnipeg and as a dental receptionistfor many years at the Brandon Clinic. Marilyn was also a talented and meticulous seamstress having done several bridal parties, wedding gowns, clothing and costumes for special occasions, skating, and dance - including last minute hems and alterations for friends and family who knew she could be depended upon. She was an active volunteer with many organizations, perhaps most notably with the Canadian Diabetes Association, serving as a board member for many years. She was a lifelong member of the Lutheran Church, committing her talents and serving on numerous committees and boards. Grace Lutheran Church has many beautiful banners displaying her craft and service to her Lord. In later years, Marilyn developed a passion for cross-stitch, her labour of love, displayed in our homes and stitched in our hearts. Marilyn was predeceased by her mother, Ruth Claudia Kliner (nee Burron). She is survived by her husband George; children Jennifer (Paul) Lu, Colin (Marla) Malmstrom; grandchildren Grace and Olivia Lu, and Brianna Malmstrom; her father Ed (Katie Turner) Kliner; sister Joanne (Stuart) Greenhough; brothers, Tom (Willy) Kliner, and Henry (Lanea) Kliner, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews. The Funeral Ceremony will be held at Grace Lutheran Church, 3101 Victoria Avenue, on Friday, March 5, 2010 at 2:30 p.m. Pastor Edmund Mielke will officiate. A private interment will be held at the Rosewood Memorial Gardens.
