OSWALD: Joan Marie Oswald (formerly Seib) of Brandon, aged 56 years, passed away with family at her side on February 21, 2010. Joan was born in Melville and raised in Grayson, Saskatchewan. She received her early education in Grayson and graduated from Melville High School. During her early adult life Joan lived in Regina, Dauphin, and Neepawa, finally settling in Brandon in 1981 where she made her home until her death. Throughout the years, Joan was employed in various occupations with the Brandon Police Service, Brandon School Division, Rolling River School Division, Learning Disabilities Association of Manitoba, and The Helping Hands Soup Kitchen as well as home based businesses selling Tupperware and Avon and providing full time childcare in her home. In recent years as her health began to decline and her vision began to fail, she found it necessary to leave the work force, but always remained interested in local organizations. She was an active member in CNIB and YMCA. Joan truly enjoyed spending time with family and friends and was always up for a rousing game of Cribbage or Yahtzee. In the summer Joan could be found enjoying the campground visiting, swimming or entertaining family and friends by the campfire. Left behind to cherish their memories are: Her Soulmate Cecil Bayliss and his daughter Erica; her children Corey Seib, Dawn Seib (Aiden) Allen; her grandsons Lucious and Tayte Allen; her Mother Elizabeth Stradeski; siblings Carol, Donna, Veronica, Laural, Lottie, Jenny, Robert, Brent, Bruce, Lamont, and their spouses; numerous nieces and nephews and many, many treasured friends that she made throughout her lifetime. Joan was predeceased by her father Gordon in 1999. An informal Memory Day for family and friends was held on February 28, 2010 filled with love, laughter and music. Donations in Joans memory may be made to the Brandon YMCA or CNIB.
