RIDDLE: Gladys Riddle (nee Stephens) passed away peacefully at the Wawanesa & District Memorial Health Centre (Care Home) on Friday March 12, 2010 at the remarkable age of 99 years.Gladys was born at Wawanesa, Manitoba on January 1st, 1911, daughter of the late John and Rettie Stephens. She was the second youngest and last remaining member of a family of ten. Gladys lived in Roseland, Manitoba, Prince, Saskatchewan and Vancouver, B.C. before marrying Robert (Bob) Jameson Riddle on July 6, 1944. Gladys and Bob farmed at Rivers, Manitoba, later moving to the Treesbank District in 1953. In 1974, they moved to Valley Lodge in Wawanesa and in June of 2009, Gladys moved to the Wawanesa Care Home. She will be very sadly missed by her son Bob (Wilma) of Treesbank, Manitoba, daughters Gayle Francis of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan and Eleanor (Ernie) Shwaluk of Portage la Prairie, Manitoba, nine grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, sister-in-law Ethel Stephens of Red Deer, Alberta and by many nieces and nephews. Gladys was predeceased by her husband Bob in 1995, son-in-law Keith Francis in 1999 and by five brothers and four sisters. Funeral services will be held on Thursday March 18, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. in the Wawanesa United Church with Shirley McBurney officiating. Interment to follow in the Wawanesa Cemetery. Flowers are gratefullydeclined.
