HRUSHOWY: Victoria Hrushowy passed away at her residence Dinsdale Home on Sunday, March 7, 2010. Victoria was born May 19, 1918 at Sifton, Manitoba to Tekla and Anton Polloway, the youngest of ten children in the Polloway family. Raised on the family farm at Sifton, Victoria received her education at Fairville School in Sifton. After graduating from high school in 1939, she met and married Johnny Hrushowy. Victoria was employed at Breslauer and Warren Jewellers and Sally Shops in Brandon. She belonged to the CWL, volunteering at many activities and was a CCF and NDP supporter. Victoria was always interested in her community and civic life. Gardening, sewing and crocheting gave her great enjoyment. She also loved her Brandon Wheat Kings. She was a wonderful cook and made terrific Ukrainian food. Victoria is survived by her sons David and Philip, grandchildren: Chris Szturm, Kathy Moquin, Mary Mickey, Lisa Quinn, Ivana Hrushowy and Maggie Hrushowy. She waspredeceased by her husband John, daughters: Renee Hrushowy and Edie Szturm. The Funeral Ceremony will be held at Memories Chapel on Saturday, March 27, 2010 (today) at 1:00 p.m. Celebrant will be Rev. Fr. Michael Tkachuk. Cantor will be Stella Fedeniuk. Urn bearers will be Maggie and Ivana Hrushowy. Interment will be in the Brandon Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Brandon Regional Health Centre Foundation, 150 McTavish Avenue East, Brandon, Manitoba, R7A 2B3. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Egan, the Health Care Aides at Dinsdale Personal Care Home and Adolph Chodorowsky.
