COTTON: The death of M. Isabel (née Watson) occurred peacefully at her residence, Fairview Home, on March 24, 2010, at the age of 85 years. Isabel was born May 13, 1924 and was the youngest child of Thomas and Pearl Watson of the Kola district, Virden, Manitoba. She was educated in a one room schoolhouse in Kola and attended Elkhorn School for one year, before moving to Brandon in 1944. She worked at the YWCA during the day and attended Wheat City Business College in the evening. She was employed at Canada Customs until 1949. On October 29, 1949 she married G.W. (Bill) Cotton and made their home on Richmond Avenue. They enjoyed camping and had many enjoyable times at their cabin at Clear Lake. She worked part time at Thomas Ryles Jewelry store, and was a member of Knox United Church holding various positions within the Church, and the A.C.T. Ladies Auxiliary. Isabel was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed life to its fullest. She is survived by her daughter Colleen Drysdale, son-in-law Ray, and three very special grandchildren; Michelle and fiancé Matthew Taylor of Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, Kimberly of Winnipeg and special friend Devin, and Scott (Jenny) of Brandon. Also surviving are sister- in- law Evelyn Watson and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her loving husband Bill, parents Thomas and Pearl, brothers Harold, Henry, Tom, Robin (Reta), John (Margaret). Isabel will be always remembered for her genuine smile and her love of family. She was respected by everyone who knew her. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, oil painting, music and dance, all of which family members were able to enjoy. As she tended her garden her love of flowers was evident every year. She took pride in everything she accomplished. The Funeral Service was held at the Brockie Donovan Chapel on Tuesday, March 30, 2010 at 2:30 p.m. with Rev. David Cathcart of Knox United Church officiating. Pallbearers were: Scott Drysdale, Matthew Taylor, Gary McIntosh, Allan Drysdale, Robert Knight and Robert Cotton. Interment was in Rosewood Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Arthritis Society, Suite105-386 Broadway, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3C 3R6.
