HLADY: Henry. After and long and full life, Henry Hlady, age 93, died on April 8th, 2010 in the Brandon Regional Health Centre surrounded by his family. He leaves to mourn his wife of 67 years, Mary (nee Plowman), son, Ronald (Jayne) of Calgary, daughter, Judith Grierson (Duncan) and son-in-law, Wally Gregory. Grampa will be missed by Terry Yurett (Gordon) of Winnipeg, Tanis Chodak of Trail, B.C., Marlo Yasinski of Redmond, Washington, Robert (Natsuko Maeda) of Japan and Joseph (Cherine) of Calgary. He will also be remembered by his great grandchildren, Everett and Jennifer Yasinski. Henry was close to his step families and his memory will behonoured by: Daniel Beston in Calgary, Minami and Misaki Meada in Japan, Michelle and Reinhart Hummell and their daughter, Alicia in Germany, Hayley Gregory and her son, Jessie Large, Karla Grierson in France and Rhonda and Kerry Auriat and their daughter, Olivia. Henry was especially close to his niece, Lianne (Eldon) McDougald and many others of his extended family. Henry was predeceased by his daughter, Lynda Gregory in June, 2009 and three siblings, Ted Halliday, John Halliday and Vicki Kane. After apprenticing as a carpenter with Sprattling and many years with Magnacca Construction, Henry became a private builder. Henry then joined Manitoba Housing and Renewal Corporation as a building inspector, retiring in 1984. He had a love of music that stayed with him throughout his life but many knew him from years of trapshooting. In 2000 he was honoured by the Brandon Gun Club and made a Life Member of the American Trapshooters' Association for his dedication to the sport. Some may remember Henry from the West End Community Centre, the Westoba Credit Union Board of Directors, barbershop singing or the Glen Lea Golf Course. In 2006 Henry and Mary moved to River Heights Terrance where he continued to be an active part of the community and particularly enjoyed the sing-a-longs. Interment will be held at the Madford Cemetery, on Monday, April 19, 2010 at 11:00 am. with a Memorial Service at Memories Chapel, 330 - 18th Street North at 2:00 p.m. The Rev. Barbara Jardine will officiate. In lieu of flowers, friends are encouraged to donate to "YMCA Strong Kids", 231 - 8th Street, Brandon, Manitoba, R7A 3X2.
