OWEN: Harold Edwin Owen. Harold passed away suddenly on March 11, 2010 at home. Harold was born August 7, 1932, the youngest son of William and Annie Owen of Oberon, Manitoba. In Harolds younger years with his sister Mary, they belonged to the 4-H Calf Club. They took great pride in showing their calves at many fat stock shows and many said they were hard to beat. They both enjoyed a trip to Calgary Stampede in 1946 and the Minnesota State Fair in 1947 with other 4-H members. In the summer of 1957 he left farming to start working for Commonwealth Construction driving a gravel truck building the Trans Canada Highway from Brandon to MacGregor. That winter he cut tamarack rails in Sprucewoods Park. In 1958 he started to drive transport truck for Hares Cartage, Neepawa Truck Service, Federated Co-op and Atomic Transfer for a number of years, he decided to go back to construction working for Ramsay-Bird in Neepawa and Birds Hill. In July 1966 he started working for Manitoba Hydro under John Chapple as a groundsman. Over the years he worked at various jobs becoming an Equipment Operator with Bev Epp. He worked on crews in the western region until he retired due to health reasons in 1992. During his years with Hydro he started a bicycle repair shop, a lawn and garden tilling business which he ran for many years. Harold married Norma M. Welbourne on September 14, 1955 in Newdale, Manitoba. They were blessed with five children, Clarke, Audrey, Dianne, Nancy and Gladwynne. Grandchildren, Angela, Megan, Jonathan, Kristopher and Kellie, great-grandson Castor Troy. The family were quite involved in Junior Rifle Club, boys and girls hockey, skidooing. One of the families favorite times were camping with family and friends and the Sunday drives to Grandma and Grandpas place. Harold loved and enjoyed taking short drives to find some unknown place he hadnt seen, taking pictures, going for coffee and sharing conversation with friends. Harold was predeceased by William and Annie Owen, son Clarke, Jim and Minnie (Hogarth) Welbourne, John Owen and Mary Owen. Rest in Peace
