WADDELL : Lillian June Waddell passed away on May 2, 2010 at the age of 75 years. She was predeceased by her husband, William Frazer Waddell in 2005. Lillian leaves behind four sisters and one brother. She will be sadly missed by her daughters, Darlene (Wayne) Ewachewski of Shoal Lake, Manitoba and Ruth Waddell and family of Wetaskiwin. Mom was a full time mother and even though she worked along side Dad farming, there was always homemade baking waiting for us after school. Lil will always be remembered for her baking. Her homemade chicken soup, apple pies and her awesome potato salad could never be replaced. She loved to bake and share with family and friends. Knitting was a favourite past-time for mom. We all had slippers and lots of mittens. She even made our dresses for going to church. Her three grandchildren, Jeanette, Kristin and Calvin will miss her dearly but have a legacy of wonderful memories. Jeanette’s memory of her grandma was taking her to the Don Williams concert and they were both singing along. Kristin’s memory will always be June 13. Grandma and her always celebrated their birthdays together on that day. Calvin’s memory is going to church and always getting a ‘big hug’ from grandma and, of course, baking cookies with her. We were all very proud of Mom’s courageous battle against breast cancer. She never gave up and faced each day with a smile. In her life, she gave spirit and direction. In her illness, she taught us courage and hope; the value of life and living in the moment. Music of any variety filled her apartment daily. The friends she made will always remember laughter and a helping hand. Every Sunday she enjoyed the fellowship of the Calvary Temple Baptist Church. She was truly blessed with their friendship and support. We’re going to miss Mom (Grandma) but we know she is now with Dad and is very happy to be re-united with him. We know they are both watching over us. Memorial service will be held at Baker Funeral Chapel, 5302-50 Avenue, Wetaskiwin on Saturday, May 8, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Wayne Jorstad officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are gratefully accepted to the Calvary Baptist Church, 4910 Northmount Drive, Wetaskiwin, Alberta, T9A 3R2.
