WOOD: Susan Wood passed away April 26, 2010 at the age of 69 years. Susan was born October 27, 1940 at Abbotshall, Manitoba to Thomas and Mary Chambers. She married Howard Wood on November 19, 1960. They had three children, Dennis, Debbie and Brenda. Susan was very artistic and had a host of things she enjoyed doing such as gardening, painting pictures, watching the birds that came to her feeders, camping, woodworking and visiting with family and friends, especially at the lake. Susan got rheumatoid arthritis in her early forties and although it was very debilitating and painful she was determined to wear away and not rust away so kept as active as possible for as long as she could. Susan moved to the Souris Personal Care Home in April of 2009. She did her best to enjoy her time there making new friends of staff and residents. Susan is survived by her son, Dennis Wood, daughters, Debbie (Frank) Denbow, Brenda Wood; grandchildren, Christopher (Dessa) Dooley, Jason Dooley, Shawn Wood, Ashlyn Wood and special daughter-in-law, Theresa Wood. Susan is also survived by her sisters, Betty Bage of Brandon, Marge Jacques of Ninga, Margaret Harbottle of Rorkton and Kay Grosjean of Brandon, as well as many nieces and nephews. Susan was predeceased by her parents, Thomas and Mary Chambers, her husband, Howard Wood, grandson, Darrell McGean, and sisters, Patricia Dishner and Annie Flood. Funeral services were held at Kowalchuk's Chapel, Souris, Manitoba on Thursday, April 29, 2010 with Reverend Harvey Hurren officiating. Interment was in the Souris and Glenwood Cemetery. Pallbearers were Frank Denbow, Bill Bage, Matthew Fehr, Tim Inkster, Leanne Thomas and Patricia Tinant. In memory of Susan, donations may be made to the Souris Personal Care Home Activities Fund in care of the Assiniboine Regional Health Authority, Box 10, Souris, Manitoba, R0K 2C0.
