McCANNELL: Ross Ferguson, 1923 2010. Ross McCannell passed away peacefully at Rock Lake Personal Care Home, Pilot Mound, MB on April 24, 2010, with family by his side. Dad was born February 14, 1923 at the family farm in Copperfield District, MB to Donald (Dan) and Emma McCannell. Dad leaves to mourn his passing, children: Leith and Allan Fallis, Trudy and Garry Taylor, Curtis and Jackie McCannell and daughter- in-law Brenda McCannell. Grandchildren: Shannon and Travis Klassen (Ethan, Jillian), Mark and Richelle Fallis (Rylen), Becky and Darcy Simard (Kolby, Maden), Brooke McCannell (Taylor) and Darren Height, Kyle McCannell and Melissa Sexton, Kristen and Kayla McCannell. Brothers: Ken and Fay McCannell, Lorne and Beth McCannell. Sisters-in-law: Florence McCannell, Mary Holland and Maud Holland. Also nieces and nephews. Dad was predeceased by his wife Eunice in 2009 and son Bruce in 1997, parents Dan and Emma, brother Grant and sister Jean. Dad attended Copperfield School and Pilot Mound High School. On December 11, 1948 Ross married Eunice Holland of Woodbay District. In the spring of 1949 they purchased the SW 1/2 of 6-4-11, where they resided until 1985 when they retired to Pilot Mound. Dad grain farmed with his brothers Ken and Lorne for many years. He also had a beef cow/calf herd, as well as hogs. Dad was a Stuartville School District trustee, and a member of the Canadian Order of Foresters. Dad was an avid curler, participating in many bonspiels, he enjoyed watching local hockey and curling events, and also followed hockey, curling and baseball on TV. Dad travelled to many communities to watch the harness horse races. Dad and Mom enjoyed camping trips together. After moving to town, Dad took up golfing and enjoyed many games with his friends. Dad took pleasure in watching his grandchildrens' sporting activities. Dad enjoyed having coffee with his friends at the local coffee shops. Dad was a hard worker and always remained interested in the farming activities. A service to remember Dad was held Thursday, April 29, 2010 at Pilot Mound United Church, followed by interment in Greenwood Cemetery, Pilot Mound, Manitoba. If friends so desire, donations may be made to the Pilot Mound Foundation, Box 235, Pilot Mound, Manitoba, R0G 1P0 or to a charity of one's choice.
