SWANSON: Joyce Gladys (Pryor) passed away peacefully on June 3, 2010 with her family by her side. Joyce was born April 20, 1935 in Daysland, AB to Allen and Edna Pryor. She was enticed to Manitoba by a job opportunity at Tweed's Garage in Medora, followed by working in Dr. Kaye's office. Joyce met Gordon Swanson in 1963 and started farming together shortly after. Joyce being an avid animal lover enjoyed taking care of the "babies" that farm life brought. Whether they be calf, chick or kitten she looked forward to the adventures that came with each birth. Gordon and Joyce were married in July of 1969 and immediately began raising their own babies. Carl and Diane were the pride of Joyce. She loved watching them play sports, compete in 4-H or just plain being farm kids. Joyce and family returned to Daysland every summer to visit her family back home. Her brothers Gordon, Earl and sister Margaret as well as many nieces and nephews plus her parents enjoyed and looked forward to visits. Joyce also loved visiting and chatting with friends at bingo or the local coffee shop. There was always a pot of coffee on at the farm as well making whoever came out feel welcome. She had a knack for teasing the people she loved, and loved being teased back. Always smiling as friends of her children called her "Mom", opening her door as well as her heart to them all. Once her children were grown Joyce herself enjoyed the feeling a Mom has when her kids came home. Often teasing how their pets where her "grandkids" and spoiled them like they were. Joyce was predeceased by her parents Allen and Edna, sister Margaret and brother Earl. As well as brothers-in-law Arnold, Ken and sister-in-law Irene. Joyce's smile and that special twinkle in her eye will be dearly missed by her husband Gordon, son and daughter-in-law Carl and Angela, as well as daughter Diane and "grandbaby" Mikky with whom she had a special bond. She was a special kind of lady and will be truly missed.
