BROOKS: Angela Joan ("Tate Omani Wi", Walks With The Wind). It is withgreat sadness the family of Angela Brooks announces her sudden passing on June 5, 2010. Angela was born in Brandon, Manitoba on July 19, 1963. She was the youngest child of Cyrill and Molly Martin. Angela attended Fleming School and Earl Oxford School before graduating from Crocus Plains Regional School. Angela was raised in Brandon, but spent her summers as a child in Rapid City. She took interest in figure skating and swimming. She loved to hang around with her numerous nephews and cousins. Angela was an Administrative Assistant for the Winnipeg Airport for nine years. In 1984, her pride and joy was born when her beloved Chad was born. In 1995, Angela took a leave of absence from the Winnipeg Airport and took a job with the City of Brandon at the Engineering Department as an Administrative Assistant. Angela loved her job and the people she worked for, especially, Ted Snure, who was always right in her mind. She had a phrase when you had a conversation about work that, "Ted Says..". Angela spent the last of her fifteen years at the City. She also spent five years on the Board of the Westman Traditional Christmas Dinner, every year putting in the countless hours required to make the dinner a success. She was a single mother who only wanted the best for her son. She loved Chad so much. Angela loved to cook and was best known for her rhubarb crisp. She had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh. The radio was always on or a CD was playing. Angela loved to get up early in the morning to go jogging before work and would jog up to five kilometers a day. She is survived by her partner, Keith Moffatt and her son, Chad Brooks (Crystal), her mother Molly, her sisters; Heather Smith (Hendry), Mavis Stanford (John), Debi, Gwen, Rhonda, Loree and her brother- in-law, McGee and many nieces and nephews as well as numerous friends and colleagues. Angela was predeceased by her father, Cyrill, her sister Janet and brother-in-law, Deacon Smith and sister, Doreen Smith. The Funeral Service was held on Friday, June 11, 2010 at St. Matthew's Cathedral in Brandon. The Very Reverend Robin G. Walker officiated. Urn bearer was her son, Chad Brooks. Honorary Pallbearers were: the Engineering Department of the City of Brandon. Interment will be at a private family ceremony. Memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Fund or a Commemorative Arbour Trail, which will be placed at the Riverbank DiscoveryCenter in her honor and lasting memory.
