ELLIOTT: Jean Mabel Elliott (Boulton) passed away June 8th 2010, at the Reston Health Centre at the age of 80 years. She was born on March 17th, 1930, on the family farm in the Kinloss district, near Reston. She was the youngest of eight children and attended school at Kinloss and later in Reston. Jean was employed as a Postal Clerk at the Reston Post Office and once married also in Pipestone. On October 25th, 1958, she married Charlie Elliott and together they settled into married life at the Elliott family farm in the Belses district, near Pipestone. Jean enjoyed farm and family life, gardening, and baking. We have many memories of her in the kitchen, baking for the family, for the Reston Fair or canning fruit for enjoyment in the winter. She was always there with an encouraging word, When times are tough, Do Not Quit! Participating in her community was also an integral part of her life. She was a member of the Belses Basting Belles, the Belses Hobby Club, Belses School secretary, a faithful member of the Pipestone United Church, serving as treasurer for a number of years, the UCW and Guild organizations, RM of Albert History book committee, 4H leader and curler in local bonspiels. For over forty years, Jean reported the Belses news for the Reston Recorder. In 1988 Charlie and Jean built their retirement home across the road from the family farm. She continued to enjoy gardening, a little more time to read, taking pictures, capturing video of her dear grandchildren, travelling with her beloved Charlie, and generally enjoying family and friends. She was a kind and gentle soul and could often be found visiting at a local tea or at the hospital or nursing home. For years she could be heard delivering greetings on the CKLQ Happy Line. Throughout her life and even in the face of failing health, Mum maintained her faith in God and her love for her family, friends and community. Jean is survived by her husband of 51 years, Charlie; sons Glenn (Nancy); Ron (Sharon); Garth (Barb); daughter Sharon; grandchildren Alicia, Justin, Sondra, Meghan, Ryan, Chantal, and Corey; sister, Mary Milliken; brother, Frank Boulton; sister-in-law Marian (Cecil) Greig; and many nieces and nephews. Jean was predeceased by her parents Thomas and Elsie; siblings Emily and Annie Boulton; Edna (Ewen) Pearn; Violet (Joe) Sowtis; Edwin (Merle) and brother-in-law Beverly Milliken. A service to celebrate Jeans life was held on June 12th, 2010 at the Pipestone United Church with the Rev. Dwight Rutherford officiating. Interment followed at the Pipestone Cemetery. Redpath Funeral Home, Melita, in care of arrangements. Forever in our hearts, until we meet again.
