BERNIER: Joseph John David Bernier 66 years, better known as J.D. Blair passed away on Friday, July 30, 2010 at the Brandon Regional Health Centre. J.D. was born February 8, 1944 in Val d'Or, Quebec. J.D. was raised in Elliot Lake and lived with his parents until he was 21. This was when music took over his heart and the traveler came alive in him. Along the travels he took he met many memorable musicians where J.D.'s musical family began and grew. In 1986 after a long road of being a traveling man he decided to settle down and "come home" where he became a local musician of the Brandon area. Along the way of J.D.'s travels he managed to have a life with several loves along the way and was blessed with four children. He turned his life from music to family and music. J.D. lived out his life in Brandon with his treasured dogs that became his children, after his kids had all grown up and left the nest. J.D. was a man with a big heart and a song for every occasion. J.D. is survived and loved by his children: Richard Laporte, Jason Bernier (Michelle Head), Blair Bernier (Melanie Thompson), Donna Bernier (Derek Graham), (his dogs Skor, Ripper, Shauna), grandchildren: Randy Laporte, Travis Laporte, Jeremy Laporte, Spencer Bernier, Arieana Bernier, Sydnee Bernier, Alexa Bernier, Mikaela Devers, great-grandson Raiden Laporte, and many musicians J.D. played with throughout his life journey. He was predeceased by his parents Joseph Raoul Bernier, Lola May Bernier, Hisbeagle Fred, beloved dogs Foreman, Striker, Skye, Sidney, Shadow, and members of his musician family. The Celebration of J.D.'s Life will be held on Friday, August 6, 2010 (today) at 2:30 p.m. at Memories Chapel, 330-18th Street North, Brandon, Manitoba. Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 193 Sherbrook Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3C 2B7.Expressions of sympathy may be made at www.memorieschapel.com.
