ROBINSON: On September 9, 2010 at the Lion's Prairie Manor, Portage la Prairie, Manitoba, Stella (Sczesny) Robinson passed away at the age of 95 years.  Stella was born in Portage la Prairie on July 9, 1915 and received her education at North Ward, Central and Victoria Schools, The Convent, and Portage Collegiate.  In 1932 Stella, along with her brother John and sister Annie, moved to a farm in the Rossendale area. Here she met Alvin Robinson and they were married on November 31, 1936 in Winnipeg, Man.  Stella and Alvin farmed in the Ferriss District at Rossendale until 1959 at which time they took up residency in Portage.  After moving to Portage, Stella worked for the Campbell Soup Company for fifteen years retiring in 1976. Alvin passed away in 1998. Stella's interests were her home and garden, her church, the Catholic Women's League, the Women's Institute and quilting with her friends - Georgina, Roberta and Hazel.  One of the happiest events in her life was planning her 90th birthday party in 2005. In 2007 Stella moved into Victoria Landing in Brandon and two months ago returned to her beloved Portage la Prairie and the Lion's Prairie Manor. Stella is survived by her four daughters - Joan (Hugh) MacKay of Brandon, Manitoba, Donna (Colin) Stout of Chilliwack B.C., Marilyn (Neil) Downey of Red Deer, Alberta, and Linda Peterat of Vernon, B.C.  Seven grandchildren - Shannon Stewart; Allan MacKay; Cameron and Graeme Stout; Andrew, Charla, and Nathan Downey.  Four great-grandchildren - Randelle Stewart; Logan, Mia and Norah Downey. The family wishes to thank Stella's caregivers in her final years at the following locations - Victoria Landing in Brandon, Brandon Assiniboine Centre and Lion's Prairie Manor in Portage.  A huge thank you to all her church members and friends for their loving concern and care. Prayers will take place at McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel, Portage la Prairie, MB on Tuesday, September, 14 2010 from 7:00 to 8:00 pm. Funeral Service will be held at Good Shepherd Roman Catholic Church, Portage la Prairie, MB on Wednesday, September 15, 2010 at 1:00 pm led by Father Eric Giddins. Private family Interment is to follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. As expressions of sympathy, if friends so wish, donations may be made in Stella’s memory to Portage la Prairie Heritage Inc. (CP Station), 251 – 3rd Street NE, Portage la Prairie, Manitoba, R1N 1L1. A tree will be planted in memory and cared for by McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel 857-402.
