SLEZAK: Rose Slezak passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 14, 2010. Predeceased by her husband Walter Slezak in 2004, brother Alex Wisnoski, numerous brothers and sisters-in law, Rose leaves behind to mourn her passing, brother Frank Wisnoski and sister-in-law Gerry, sisters Theresa Seymour, Irene Oakley and Marie Wisnoski; children Tammy (Roland) Masse, Kim (Danny) Walker and Barry Slezak; six grandchildren Shawn Masse, Amanda Masse, Darren Masse, Kristin Masse, Billy Walker and Todd Walker; two great grandchildren Sobe and Keaton Walker. Born June 30, 1932 in Elk Ranch to Martha and John Wisnoski, Rose was the fourth of six children. Rose attended Elk Ranch School and at the age of 16 moved to Toronto, Ontario where she worked at the Eaton’s Centre. She later moved back to Manitoba where she worked as a housekeeper for Walter Slezak. This working arrangement led to a lifelong commitment and they were married on November 13, 1965. They continued to farm in the Brookdale area. Rose resided at Valleyview Care Home in Brandon after suffering a major stroke in March of 2007 but continued to maintain a positive outlook on her situation. Rose enjoyed spending time with her family, especially the birthday parties and Christmas gatherings that were attended by her siblings and children – and the Chinese food that was always her requested menu. The family wishes to thank the doctor and nursing staff at Valleyview for their continued care and support as well as those that have conveyed their condolences to the family. Funeral Service will be held at St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church in Neepawa on Saturday, September 18, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery, Neepawa. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to the Canadian Cancer Society. Clarke’s Funeral Home, Gladstone in care of arrangements.www.clarkesfuneralhome.com
