Georgina Mary Cecilia Butcher, long time resident of Birtle, Manitoba, passed away peacefully at the Sunnyside Manor Personal Care Home, Birtle, Manitoba on September 20, 2010 at the age of 94 years. Georgina was born in her parents home on May 29, 1916 located on the family farm about two kms south-east of Foxwarren, Manitoba. She was the younger of two daughters born to Fred and Mary (nee Graham) Tarrant and she lived and grew up on the family farm with her parents and sister. They had their second child in 1947 and the family of four maintained a healthy and active farm lifestyle which had its difficulties but proved to be successful with many lasting and rewarding memories. She treasured and enjoyed the many friendships and experiences that resulted from farm life. Georgina and Doug sold the farm, retired and moved to Birtle in 1978. Following Dougs death in 1981 Georgina continued to live on Vine Street in Birtle until 1996 at which time she moved to the Pioneer Lodge in Birtle, and later to Sunnyside Manor in 2009. Georgina appreciated her life long roots in the Birtle area and felt very comfortable and thankful with the assistance and support of the Birtle community. She was always very devoted and supportive to her family, organized frequent family activities and was very close to her sister Evelyn, the two were blessed to reside close to each other during their later years and were able to participate and enjoy many things together.
