GRANGER: On Friday, October 1, 2010 after a long healthy life, Jeannie Granger passed away at the age of 102. Jean was born February 20, 1908 in Aberdeenshire, Scotland to Charles and Jane Nicol. The family immigrated to Canada in 1910 and Jean spent her early years at Gorrie, Roseland and Beresford. In 1938, Jean married Ernest Granger of Rounthwaite and resided at the home farm before retiring to Brandon in 1969. Retirement wasnt for relaxing - it was for nurturing grandchildren and keeping the cookie tin full. Great-grandchildren brought more joy as she held each new one in her arms. She loved them dearly. Jean was predeceased by her husband Ernest in 1978 and by her siblings Margaret, Charles, John and Bill. She is survived by her three sons: Norman (Betty) and children, Ross (Brooke), Dylan; Sandra (Mark) Ritchie, Megan, Nathan and Andrew. Brian (Dorothy) and children, Donald (Tanya), Dylan and Kaitlyn; Craig (Melanie), Nash and Hayden; Allison (Tyson), Zachary. Edwin (Leona) and children Gary; Brent (Amy), Larissa. Also surviving is her sister Mary Bulak of Merritt, BC, sisters-in-law Vi Nicol and Peggy Granger, plus many nieces and nephews. Funeral service was held at Brockie Donovan Chapel on Wednesday, October 6, 2010 with Rev. Jim Brown of St. Georges Anglican Church and Rev. John Dolloff of St. Marys Anglican Church officiating. Interment was at Brandon Cemetery. The family is grateful to the staff at Sokol Supportive Housing for their excellent care of Mom for the past eight years. Thanks also to the doctors and staff on 3rd floor Assiniboine Centre for making Moms last days comfortable. Anyone wishing, may make a donation to charity of choice.
