HILDEBRANDT: The death of Walter Hildebrandt occurred suddenly on the 24th of September, 2010 at his home in Rivers, Manitoba. Walter was born in Lanigan, Saskatchewan. He was the son of the late Matilda and Archie Hildebrandt of Surrey, B.C. and Wheatland, Manitoba. Walter was a veteran of WWII, he served with the combined RECCE Group, British Second Army, Polar Division. He worked for the Department of National Defence in Cold Lake, Alberta. Walter enjoyed many sports but his favorite by far was hockey and Stompin Tom Connors' "The Hockey Song". Walter is survived by six children: Ron of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Larry of Kelowna, B.C., Glenn of Hampton, NB, Marlene of Whitehorse, YT, Danny of Edmonton, AB and Terri of Edmonton, AB and their mother Minnie Hildebrandt of Grand Centre, AB. Phillipine Hildebrandt of Montmarte, SK, sister Alma and brothers: Albert, Carlie, Irvin and Leonard, all of BC. He also leaves to mourn grandchildren: Chad, Yvette Hildebrandt, Michael, Cheryl Hildebrandt, Brandie Chetcuti, Michael Fuder, Karly, Kelsey, Lindsay Hildebrandt, Dayton Pederson, Darrell Hildebrandt; great- grandchildren: Tanner, Sydney, Daniel Bourque, Braeden, Tyler, Cole Hildebrandt, Julianne Chetcuti, Nylah Fuder. A Veteran's Graveside Funeral was held Friday, September 24, 2010 at Rivers Cemetery, Rivers, Manitoba. Rev. Glenna Beauchamp Legion Padre officiated. The honour guard were members of the Rivers Legion providing the Last Post Ceremony, with representation from the Rivers Police Force. A Reception was held following the Service at the Rivers Legion Hall. Many thanks from the family to all who attended, for their fine participation and the ladies of the Auxiliary for the lunch they provided. The family has requested any donations be made to the Salvation Army, 9 Princess Avenue East, Brandon, Manitoba, R7A 1R8.
