ZINCK: James Daniel Zinck. Peacefully on Sunday, November 7, 2010 at the Portage General Hospital, James Zinck, beloved husband of Glenda Lamb-Zinck, passed away at the age of 77 years. James was born in Halifax, N. S. where he grew up and received his education. As a young man he sailed the ocean for ten years with the Imperial Oil Co. In 1958 he joined the Royal Canadian Army and took his training at C.F.B. Shilo. His first posting was to Picton, Ontario. He also spent four years in Germany. He returned to C.F.B. Shilo where he retired from the military in 1972. James joined the Corps of Commissionaires and worked security in the Toronto area. A big part of James’ life was cooking and catering as he managed numerous restaurants through out Canada. As a member of the executive of the A. N. & A. F. Unit #13 in Portage la Prairie, James spent countless hours volunteering at the unit. He managed the canteen and was always ready to help where ever he was needed. Left to mourn his passing are his loving wife, Glenda, eight daughters, Pat (Sam), Terry, Susan, Sandra (Stacey), Greta, Joanne (Kendall), Melanie (Dennis) and Sheila (Darren) and one son Jamie (Ladawn). Also seventeen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, one brother and one sister. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 13, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. in the A.N.& A. F. Hall, 25 Third Street N.W. Portage la Prairie. If friends so desire, contributions to Central Plains Cancer Care Service, 318 Saskatchewan Avenue East, Portage la Prairie, Manitoba, R1N 0K8 would be appreciated. Arrangements entrusted to Ronald Moffit Memorial Services, Portage la Prairie.
