ERNEST: Leslie Les John Ernest of Brandon passed away suddenly at his residence on Sunday, October 17, 2010 at the age of 61 years. Les was born on February 17, 1949 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He enjoyed helping his mom and dad on their family farm and driving the tractor hauling water. As a child, Les loved to play board games and play cards with his brother and sisters. His love of playing cards continued through the years. His children have memories of Les and Pauline going off with friends and/or family to play cards for hours. He loved to play so much that you could likely find him and others at work playing cards on their lunch hour, or find him playing Solitaire or Hearts on his computer. In his younger years, Les loved to play pool and curl in the winter. In 1987, Les attended ACC and completed his Heavy Duty Mechanics and graduated in the top of his class. Les started working for Royal Paving back in 1966 at the age of 17 till 1976. From there he went on to work for Zenith Paving from 1977 to 1987. Due to his deteriorating eyesight, Les had to find a different line of work so, for the past 23 years he has been with the Manitoba Metis Federation Southwest Region, as the Bingo Manager - a job that he loved and was dedicated to. Les enjoyed watching his Toronto Maple Leafs on the T.V. and playing bingo while on his holidays from work. He liked to come home and watch his comedy shows while relaxing. Les is survived by two daughters: Tammy Fehr (son-in-law Klas) and her children, Scott and Michael Fehr; Lenore Ernest (son-in-law Mike) and her children, William, Abagail, Levi, Leah and Jesse; his best friend, Pauline Ernest; and one brother and four sisters. Les was predeceased by his mother, Eileen Ernest (nee Graham) who passed away in 1983, father Harold Ernest who passed away in 1996 and by sister Shirley Ernest who passed away in 1978.
