ALEXANDER: Francis James. It is with great sorrow the family announces the sudden passing (cardiac arrest) of Francis James Alexander on December 6, 2010 at his farm home at Lenore, Manitoba. The funeral service was held on December 18, 2010 at Carscadden Funeral Chapel (Virden). Pastor Jason Hodson officiated. Nephew Lyle Heaman gave the eulogy. Pall bearers were nephews Lyle and Ross Heaman and great nephews Bill, James, Jonathon Heaman and Steven Robertson. Ushers were Allan Hill and Innes Hodson. Organist Louise Leask and the Village Choir provided the music. A Legion delegation also attended the service. Interment was at Breadalbane Cemetery (Lenore). Lenore W.I. served lunch for a time of fellowship at Lenore Community Hall. Francis (born June 13, 1933) was the first born child of Francis Clair and Edith (Bowes) Alexander. He will be lovingly remembered by sisters Joyce (Allen) Heaman and their family, Valerie, Ross (Michelle) and little Emma Heaman; Bernice (Cliff) Heaman and their family, Lyle (Shelly) Heaman and children Helena (Robin) Davison Rosanne and Ariah, Bill, James Jonathon and Justin Heaman; Colleen (Wayne) Robertson and children Steven (Chelsea), Laura (Lance) McGonigal and baby Avery, Christine Robertson. Also, he is survived by Aunt Eileen Bowes. Francis was predeceased by his parents Clair and Edith and baby brother Aldyne; grandparents Frank and Catherine (Tiffen) Alexander and “Charlie” James and Martha (Switzer) Bowes. Also, Francis lost his beloved Alexander uncles and aunts. After Clair died November 24, 1971, mother continued living with Francis until her death September 1, 1998. Aunt Anne and Uncle Earle Alexander’s family were special cousins and became extended family. Francis attended school in Lenore and then went to Kenton School for Grade XII. He attended the University of Manitoba for a diploma in Agriculture. Francis loved all sports, especially baseball and he played on several teams. He watched T.V. sports and was an avid Blue Bomber fan. Francis was proud to belong to the Lenore Community and thought these families were the best. He was an Associate Member of the Virden Legion and worked in the bar for many years. His social life revolved around the Brandon Singles Clubs: Club 77 and Prairie Social Singles and his friends there. He loved traveling to Cuba and was to have left on a tour on February 7, 2011. Francis was a farmer/rancher and was proud to be farming his great grandfather Jackson and great uncles Bill and Alex Tiffen’s homesteads. He had a deep attachment to the land and wished for it to remain in the family. At the time of his death, he was farming with his nephew, Lyle. The joy of Francis’ existence was his nieces and nephews and their families. They became the children he never had!He Will Live In Their Hearts Forever!
