SATTERTHWAITE: William (Bill) Satterthwaite, 1933-2011. Mr. William Rodger Satterthwaite, age 77 years passed away peacefully with family by his side on Sunday, January 2, 2011 at the Dryden Regional Health Centre. Bill was born in Brandon, Manitoba on September 26, 1933. He and Barbara Morrish moved to Thunder Bay and got married on April 2, 1954. Where they had 5 children: Sherry, Don, Rob, Debbie and Sandra. Bill was predeceased by his wife Barbara, his parents Jack and Maxine, brother, Jack and daughters Sherry and Sandra. Bill worked for a few years at the Husky Oil Refinery, then he began his trade as a pipefitter with Local 628 out of Thunder Bay, for 25 years, retiring in 1991 in Oxdrift. Bill had a passion for hunting and fishing. He enjoyed his garden, camp on Shebandowen, and most of all his times spent with family and friends. He was known for his tinkering on any non-working pieces of machinery, giving him the reputation as “Mr. Fix-it”. Bill always talked about his faithful black lab Buddy, alias Tripod, who were often seen travelling Adams Road, by each others sides. Bill is survived by his brother Wayne (Eileen), sons Donald (Lana), Robert and daughter Deborah (Jim), 6 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. There was no visitation as cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service to celebrate Bill’s life was held on Thursday, January 6, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at the Dryden Community Funeral Home’s Chapel, with Velma Henderson officiating. Interment will follow at a later date. If friends so desire, in lieu of flowers donations may be made to Northern Cancer Research.
