McBETH: Sadie Anna McBeth (nee Langille) of Vista Park Lodge, Winnipeg, formerly of Brandon passed away at her residence on December 22, 2010. She was born in Wine Harbour, Guysborough, Co, Nova Scotia on April 13, 1926. Sadie was proud of being from Nova Scotia. She worked as a nurses aide at the old Sanatorium in Brandon looking after TB patients. She later worked as a nurses aide at the Assiniboine Centre, retiring in 1987 from the laundry department at the Brandon Regional Health Centre. Sadie was a ladies auxiliary member with the Royal Canadian Legion. She volunteered for lots of functions, being a model for hair dressing students or lending a hand with the Kinettes and Kinsmen. She also enjoyed to play bingo. She loved looking after her granddaughters Alicia and Cherlyn and visiting her sister Belle and family in Nova Scotia. Sadie is survived by daughters, Joan (Les) Sykes, West Kelowna, B.C.; Linda Thornton, Calgary, Alberta; Jo-Ann (Trent) Reid, LaSalle, Manitoba; son, Ken Dodds from Winnipeg. She also leaves grandchildren: Darcy and Jason Robins; Eugene, Jamie, Perry Lee Graham; Kimberly and Teresa Douglas; Alicia and Cherlyn Reid; and eleven great grandchildren. Sadie was predeceased by her husband, George "Scotty" McBeth; parents, Lester and Lottie Langille; daughter, Irene Strasdin; sister, Isabel Barkhouse; and son- in-law, Larry Thornton. The Ceremony to Celebrate Sadie's Life was held at Memories Chapel, 330-18th Street North on Tuesday, December 28, 2010. Urn Bearer and eulogy was read by Jo-Ann Reid. All those attending the ceremony were considered Honourary Pallbearers. Friends who wish may make a donation in memory of Sadie to the Brandon Regional Health Centre Foundation for CancerCare, 150 McTavish Avenue East, Brandon, Manitoba, R7A 2B3.
