THROWER: Albert (Bert) Elvin Thrower 1928 – 2011. Bert, son of the late William and Margaret Thrower of Grenfell, SK passed away February 3, 2011, after a courageous and dignified battle with cancer. Bert was born in Wolseley, SK on June 9, 1928. He was predeceased by his parents, five sisters and four brothers. After working many years in the mines and steel mills of Ontario he returned to Brandon in 1969, with his last position being the manager of the Brandon Club from 1971 to 1988. In 1985, he married his sweetheart, Dona and they just celebrated their 25th anniversary on October 2, 2010. He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Dona, and children; Mary, Sharon and Michael, plus extended family Shirley and Dale. Bert is survived by five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Also surviving are brothers, Ernie (Olga), Bill (Elsie) and sister Meda. Bert was a man who enjoyed life to the fullest, and made many memories with lifelong friends. Cremation has taken place and he will be interred in the Boissevain Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bert’s memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 415 – 1st Street, Brandon, ManitobaB R7A 2W8. Dad, your wife Dona, children and grandchildren will love and miss you “forever and a day”. Rest Well.
