MILLAR: George Galloway Millar, formerly of Rapid City passed away at Rideau Park Personal Care Home, Brandon, on Monday, February 21, 2011 at the age of 82 years. George was born December 8, 1928 to David and Rona Millar of Winnipeg. He spent his early years in Winnipeg, moving out to the Rapid City area in his teens to work on Allan Stewart's farm. He then moved to the Little Smokey area of Alberta to work on a farm. On his return to Brandon, George worked as a delivery driver for Brandon Pure Milk. It was during this time that George met Shirley Brogden, whom he was to marry on June 2, 1954. Together they moved to the farm south of Rapid City. While farming, George held a variety of jobs, working for a time at Canadian Brown Steel and Tank, on a crew building culverts, at Canadian Motors as a gas bar attendant/tow truck driver and as a school bus driver for the Rolling River School Division, but his love was always the farm. George was predeceased by his wife Shirley on December 5, 2007, an infant son Percival George in 1956, his sister Olive in 1998 and his parents. George is survived by his children: Mary (Kelly), Stan (Norma), Virginia (Ray), Harold (Carolyn), Tracy (Rob) and Melanie (Barry). He is also survived by eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at Memories Chapel, 330 - 18th Street North on Monday, February 28, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. Mr. Stan Millar will officiate. Interment will be at a later date.
