ROBERTSON: It is with great sadness that the family of Margaret Peggy Grace Robertson (née Sutherland) announce her passing after a brief illness, on Friday, February 25, 2011 at the age of 86 years. Peggy was born on December 3, 1924 the youngest child of five born to Clara and Will Sutherland. She lived all her life in Brandon. In 1947, she married Atholl Robertson and they had three children. Peggy spent many years working in the Education library of the Brandon University, a job she loved and was ideally suited for. After her retirement, Peggy devoted time to some traveling and volunteering, and especially enjoyed her summers at Clear Lake. She read avidly and enjoyed refinishing furniture, researching antiques, playing cards and watching baseball. Peggy took special pleasure in her family and close friends. Peggy was predeceased by her husband, Atholl, in 1970; sisters Jean Budge, Phyllis Pettis and Betty Sutherland; and brother Glen Sutherland. She leaves to mourn her daughter and son-in-law Marnie and Jim Adam, grandson Darren Adam, his wife Julie and great-grandsons Jack and Cal, grand-daughter Terry Adam and great-grand-daughter Jadyn; her daughter and son-in-law Libby Johnston and Greg Scott, grand-daughter Leanne; her son Blair Robertson; her sisters-in-law Sheila Powell, Bunty Thompson; her brother-in-law Terry Robertson, and many nieces, nephews and friends. Peggy was a love-filled, delightful and resilient woman who gave much to her family, friends and community. She will be sorely missed. A service of remembrance was held to honor Peggys life at Brockie Donovan Chapel on Wednesday, March 2, 2011 with Pastor Randy Stanton of the First Baptist Church officiating. She was interred alongside Atholl, in a private gathering held at Rosewood Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Peggy may be made to the Brandon Humane Society, 2200-17th Street East, Brandon, Manitoba, R7A 7M6.
