NELSON-BIRSS, Maxine. Sept. 21, 1924 - Feb. 25, 2011. After battling Alzheimers for many years Maxine passed away peacefully at Hanning House in Cambridge, Ontario. She was the daughter of Raymond and Hazel Jones of Brandon, Manitoba, sister of Marilyn Kerr and Bill Jones, and predeceased by her two husbands William (Ken) Nelson (1977) and Thomas (Ken) Birss (2003). She has left her children John Nelson (Susan), Virginia Pearce (Jim) and Meredith Harron (Joe), their families, the Birss family and her many friends with fond memories of her easily expressed opinions, her style and her strength. Mackie was pleased to be a grandmother and a great grandmother. She had a love of travel, music, and knowledge. Of her many accomplishments she was particularly proud of her 25 years of teaching (Biology) at Waterloo Collegiate. She was an inspiration to all of us, always heralding the beauties and wonders in the world and the importance of spending life looking for them. She shall be missed. Her burial wishes will be followed. Her cremated remains will be returning to her home in Brandon, Manitoba. A memorial service will be held in Cambridge, Ontario. Maxine supported others in many ways and in lieu of flowers, contributions to the Alzheimer’s Society or your chosen charity would be greatly appreciated as a way of continuing this support. www.barthelfuneralhome.com There is no death in remembrance.
