BRAUN: Jacob Braun, of Brandon passed away at the Brandon Regional Health Centre on Sunday, March 13, 2011 at the age of 79 years, after a courageous 15 year battle with prostate cancer. Lion Jake will be proudly remembered by his family and friends for his tireless service to the Lions Club and many other volunteer organizations, as well as years spent as teacher and principal. Jake is survived by his wife, Rita, sons Terry (Debby) of Inglis, Mb., Rick (Deb) of Rapid City, daughter, Donna Braun (Brent McCallum) of Brandon, Mb., grandchildren, Dustin (Brandi), Tyarra (Jon), JJ, Ricky, Jeremy, Angela (Ian), Lindsey and Randi; great- grandchildren: Jersey, Brooklyn and Cheyenne. Jake is also survived by brothers George (Mary), of Kelowna, BC, John (Linda) of Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, and Dick, of Calgary, Alberta, and sister, Anne (Don) Dodd, of Sylvan Lake, Alberta. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 19, 2011, at 1:00 p.m. from Central United Church, 327 8th St., Brandon, Manitoba. A second funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 26, 2011, at 1:00 pm from Knox United Church, Russell, Manitoba. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Jacob J. Braun Memorial Fund, “A Living Legacy, For A Lifetime of Giving” c/o Westoba Credit Union, 562 1st St. Brandon, Manitoba, R7A 2X1. Remembrances and condolences may be emailed to bbfs@mts.net.
