STURKO: It is with great sadness we mourn the passing of my husband and best friend, Walter Sturko. Walter was a wonderful husband, great father and grandfather who wanted only the very best for his three sons, Michael, Gary and Greg, who he loved dearly. Walter was a wonderful person and loved by all that knew him. Never said a unkind word about anyone and always looked for the best in everyone. Walter was employed by the Canadian Pacific Railway for 42 years. Served with the Princess Pats overseas. His great passion was his garden, fruit trees, flowers and the years we spent at the lake with our three sons until they had other things to do. Walter and myself were married for 60 beautiful years, they went by so quickly. I will miss him forever until we meet again. Walter lost his sight 15 years ago but learned to take his walks and never had any complaints. Walter was a life time member of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Holy Ghost and attended until he was not able to go anymore, but always kept in touch with church matters. Walter is survived by his loving wife, Stella, sons Gary (Candy), Greg (Brenda) and grandchildren Aisha and James. He had such great love for his family. Many nieces, nephews and cousins also survive him. Walter was predeceased by his mother and father, Tina and Metro, sister Jean Scory, sister Mary Blacford, brother Nick Sturko, and our loving son Michael who passed into God’s Kingdom two years ago at a young age. But my husband and Michael will walk through the tall grass and wild flowers, together with Jesus in the Holy Kingdom. We will all meet there some day with great love and prayers, Jesus said so. Service of Christian Burial will be held at Memories Chapel, Friday, April 15, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. with viewing from 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. The Very Rev. Father Michael Skrumeda officiating. Gladys Worthington will read a memoriam for our husband and Dad, who was a forever friend. Private burial will be held at the Brandon Cemetery. We thank our Lord Jesus for the wonderful 60 years of marriage and all the blessings and I know we will all meet gain in God’s Holy Kingdom, Jesus said so. Family members wish to thank all those who came to pay homage to Walter with God’s Blessing. Thank you for sharing our grief and sadness. We will miss my husband and our Dad and always remember him forever until we meet again in God’s Holy Kingdom. ~ God’s Holy Blessing, Stella, Gary, Candy, Greg and Brenda. Thanks to Dr. Engelbrecht, Dr. Meyers, Dr. Egan, nurses on 400, and Dr. Turabian. God Bless You All.
